Kim Kähäri - Cert. Audiologist
Kim has extensive experience in the field of musicians' and singers' hearing and hearing problems and specific work situations. She has mainly worked in research, teaching, and more recently also in private practice to meet individual needs, such as support and advice on hearing situations or investigating work situations in cases of hearing damage. She also tests custom-molded hearing protection.
For anyone who loves music and singing in any form, well-preserved hearing is one of the most important instruments. From a life perspective, musicians and singers often have a very long exposure time with periodically very high noise levels, as interest in what later in life becomes a profession often starts at a young age.
Sensitivity to how much sound we can tolerate varies from person to person, but in general, it can be said that we are not designed to cope with unlimited amounts of sound, and together with other stresses in life, hearing symptoms or permanent hearing loss can develop if the load becomes too high. Sometimes treatment and measures can alleviate or even cure the symptoms, so there is every reason to contact Kim if you experience any discomfort.
