Create a solid foundation for artistic work

Artist- och musikerhälsan offers lectures, workshops, guidance, and consulting services to institutions and employers in the cultural and educational sectors. With over 30 years of experience in musician health, we create initiatives that truly make a difference—for individuals, groups, and organizations.

We get the artistic scene

Artist- och musikerhälsan brings together doctors, physiotherapists, speech therapists, psychologists, voice coaches, Alexander technique teachers, and others—all with in-depth knowledge of what it means to work as an artist, musician, or performing artist.

🎼 We see the whole person: the body, the voice, the mind, and the artistic expression.

⚖️ We work both preventively and rehabilitatively.

🎯 We take into account the specific needs of the individual as well as the context.

🩺 2. Occupational health services & individual health assessments

Artist and Musician Health is an accredited occupational health team with special expertise in the performing arts and music. We offer workplace support through the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, and our services can be tailored to both institutions and freelance businesses.

Our health assessment includes:

  • Ergonomics based on instruments and voice use

  • Physical and mental strain

  • Stress and recovery balance

  • Individual feedback and possible treatment suggestions

We also offer preventive training in musician ergonomics—focusing on both physical needs and mental conditions—as well as advice on sound environments, exposure, and hearing protection. If necessary, we can provide analysis and support for symptoms of overexertion.

According to the Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulation AFS 2001:1 (SAM) §12, employers with specific work environment risks should engage occupational health services with relevant industry knowledge. That's where we come in.

🧭 3. Guidance, support, and consultation

We support individuals and groups in navigating complex situations related to health, education, and the working environment in the music industry.

  • For educators, leaders, students, and groups

  • Process guidance and consultative support

  • Can be physical, digital, or a combination of both

We have had the privilege of working with, among others

“Our long-standing collaboration with the Artist and Musician Health team has been and continues to be of enormous value to us and our musicians. It gives us access to direct, personal, and in-depth specialist knowledge with services tailored to the specific needs of our musicians, which both helps our musicians in various complex situations and saves us time.”

Björn Lovén, Orchestra Manager, GSO

"Artist- och Musikerhälsan is a valuable partner for our business. They have extensive expertise in injuries that affect musicians and always offer quick help with any problem. Their long experience means that they treat musicians with an understanding of their specific problems and conditions, which is not always the case in primary care. In rehabilitation cases, they have helped us to explain the process to the Social Insurance Agency in an educational manner."

Einar Ander, Orchestra Manager, Gävle Symphony Orchestra

"The experience and specialist knowledge available at Artist- och Musikerhälsan makes it possible to help musicians perform their jobs better. What is crucial is the focus on both the physical and mental aspects of preparing for a performance and, of course, how this relates to life in general. I also find that musicians find it easier to open up to the team. Afterwards, I also receive invaluable feedback, which enables better collaboration with musicians so that they can continue in their professional roles."

Gene Kindell, producent Norrlandsoperan

“Invaluable and quick help for orchestra musicians.”

Emelie Sandgren, Orchestra Manager, MSO
